About Surrogacy

How would one go about finding matches for a non-agency surrogacy arrangement?
I am interested in becoming a surrogate. I would prefer not to go through an agency. Is there a network where people interested in surrogacy can meet?
There’s gotta be. Try googling infertility support groups, see if you can find some info there.
You could also go talk to a fertility doctor – they would know!

Surrogacy Was the Way: Twenty Intended Mothers Tell Their Stories $17.44 Surrogacy Was the Way: Twenty Intended Mothers Tell Their Stories documents the true stories of twenty women who had children via surrogacy. Surrogacy is a complete possibility in today’s day and age, but anyone considering this route to parenthood should know the pros and cons. The women featured go to surrogacy for a variety of reasons, ranging from Mayer-Rokitansky-Kuster-Hauser syndrome (MRKH) to cancer to unexplained infertility and everything in between. Some of the journeys go rather smoothly-while others are filled with one obstacle after another. Some of the women have children already and want to add to their family, while most are attempting to become moms for the first time. What they all have in common, however, is that every woman whose story is told knows what it’s like to be an intended mother-the term for the "mother to be" if and when a baby is born. And all of the women ultimately end up having a child (or more) through surrogacy. When I first started researching surrogacy, I was fortunate to find several Online support groups. As I gave and received support to so many other women I became fascinated with the extent to which people would go to simply have a baby. I realized that their stories-our stories-needed to be heard; thus, the idea for this book was born. For the millions of women who have been touched by infertility in some way, or know someone who has, Surrogacy Was the Way will open their eyes to amazing possibilities. It will show them that they do have options, and with persistence and faith, they can achieve their dreams of motherhood after all. |

Outsourcing the Womb: Race, Class, and Gestational Surrogacy in a Global Market $13.21 A quiet revolution has been taking place during the past three decades. The way that children enter families has changed radically among upper middle class families. In the 1980s infertility increasing became defined as a medical problem that could be solved with assisted reproductive technologies (ART) rather than through adoption. Asexual or a assisted conceptiona (TM) involving medical technologies such as in vitro fertilization and embryo transfers began to replace sexual reproduction for infertile couples. Third parties, referred to as surrogates are hired to assist individuals and/or couples who wish to conceive and child with whom they share a genetic tie. This has resulted in a a surrogate baby booma (TM). This book provides a critical introduction to the global surrogacy market. A comparative analysis of the assisted reproductive technology and surrogacy industry in Egypt, Israel, India and the United States disentangles the intersecting roles of race, religion, class inequality, religious law, and global capitalism. Gestational surrogacy challenges the idea of a naturala (TM) reproduction and of the meaning of parenthood. What role should the state play in providing individuals and families with access to reproductive technologies? This book concludes with a discussion of a reproductive justicea (TM). |

Raising Triplets: Our Journey from Surrogacy Through Two Years $46.68 Raising triplets is fun, fast paced, exhilarating, exhausting, challenging and rewarding all at once. It is a world that never stops and rarely even slows down long enough for you to catch your breath. Unable to carry another pregnancy, my cousin became our surrogate and selflessly carried our three little boys for us. Having two boys already, we were still unfamiliar with the world that opened up to us following their birth. We soon found ourselves in unchartered waters. There are so few references out there to help guide you through the process of raising multiples. As a result, we lived, learned, experimented, conquered and made mistakes along the way. In the end, we have mastered multi-tasking, prioritizing and parenting in this unique world of triplets. Our bonds have strengthened, our family is closer than ever, our humor helps us survive and we have a whole new outlook on life. As a mother of five boys, I am passing along this book to share our beautiful story of surrogacy, love, family, and raising triplets. I extend this with the hope of helping others in some way, touching home and giving you something to relate to. I have tried to capture the good, the challenging and the nearly unbelievable as I take you through the journey of raising triplets. Whether you have multiples yourself, are related to someone who has multiples or are raising singletons, this book has something to offer to everyone involved with raising children. There are insights on everything from feeding and bathing your little ones to how to survive both the short trip to the store and the long car ride on vacation. It contains survival tips, poems, the dos and don’ts in parenting multiples, the must haves and much, much more. I hope you enjoy reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it. |

Intended Parents: Miracles Do Happen: A True-Life Success Story of Having Children Through Surrogacy $14.21 Who does a woman turn to when, more than anything in the world, she wants to have a child, but her body refuses to cooperate? Sometimes, all you need is a miracle. In 1998, when thirty-seven-year-old Sandra Watson Rapley and her husband Craig married, both decided that they wanted children right away. Sandra expected some difficulty trying to conceive because of uterine fibroids she had removed years ago. However, she was not prepared for the turbulent-and often times disappointing-road she would have to travel to make her dream a reality. After many failed attempts at drug therapy, ovulation calculation, and in-vitro fertilization, the Rapleys finally learned the devastating truth-fibroids inside Sandra’s uterus were preventing a successful pregnancy. Following months of discussion, testing, and counseling, the miracle that the Rapleys were praying for arrived in the form of a surrogate. Their sister-in-law, Victoria, selflessly volunteered to be their embryo’s oven, and on August 29, 2001, Victoria gave birth to the Rapleys twin sons. "Intended Parents: Miracles Do Happen" is the touching account of author Sandra Watson Rapley’s struggle with infertility, through the emotional highs and lows and the exciting time when her dream of having a child is finally fulfilled. |
